In order to meet Sony's video decoding specifications, we ask that you adhere to the following requirements if you wish to have your media distributed on Sony's Playstation VR platform. For assistance with these and other video specifications at Littlstar, send a message to media@littlstar.com.

Encoding Requirements

  • 30p Frame Rate is Optimal
    • NTSC and PAL frame rates judder in the PSVR headset, and 60p is simply too much data for a 4k HLS stream
  • Videos should be monoscopic
Monoscopic equirectangular video is strongly recommended over stereoscopic. While we do support stereoscopic video on the PSVR, we will need to limit the resolution of the video significantly in order to meet Sony's video streaming requirements, which will result in a lower-quality experience for your viewersVideos must have a width of at least 3840px and a height of at least 1920px.
  • ProRes 4:2:2 HQ with muxed stereo audio is preferred
    • We accept most other mezzanine assets, including Cineform and DNxHR.We strongly recommend exporting at 8 bit color
  • Audio tracks must have a stereo channel configuration.
    • Ambisonic and multichannel audio support for PSVR is in progress. Watch this space for updates on spatial and multichannel audio for PSVR.
